Eichinger Sculpture Studio is one of four teams shortlisted to create a sculpture proposal for the Wyoming State Capitol building. The commission involves four bronze sculptures approximately 5’x10’ each. They will be placed in alcoves visible from all floors of the Capitol Rotunda.
The capitol building is under major renovation with completion expected in 2019. When constructed in 1888, the classical Renaissance Revival architecture included extensive ornamentation throughout. The original design also included four alcoves for sculptures. These were never produced as intended. With the restoration, the original plan will be fulfilled.
The four sculptures will be allegorical and representative of the attributes, values, symbolism, and history of the State. Following a site visit earlier this month, Marty is now completing his research and preparing a maquette of his concept. Budget for this project is $280,000. Award of the commission will be announced on March 2, 2018. Inclusion as a finalist for this project is a compliment to Marty’s style, skill and past accomplishments.
