Martin Eichinger Sculpture Gallery

The final phase of our building remodel is the upgrade of our own studio/office space. We will soon have a larger gallery.

This week, to prepare for the construction, we moved about 30 sculptures into our adjacent space. This temporary gallery is open to the public. Visit us at SE 25th and Division Streets, Portland.

When the renovation is complete, everything will return to our primary gallery space. We will also display the work of an additional artist or two.

Renovation should be complete in about 6 weeks.

Energy is high as work progresses on "Crystalis," our entry for this year's Portland Winter Lights Festival. "Crystalis is about transfiguration and rebirth. The 3D illusion is created by superposing projected images onto etched acrylic wings. It is a conceptual narrative addressing emergence and change as a new way of seeing; a new consciousness. The emerging light that radiates from within and from multiple points of focus suggests that over time new life births new human nature; that life as we see it isn’t static but ever-evolving.

Jillian St. Germain of Bodyvox has joined our team as the dancer whose video image will come to life within the shower of light and smoke. The ghost-like apparition is neither solid nor transparent, real or unreal. The viewer’s experience reassembles the light and movement into a recognizable image.

"Crystalis" was created for the Portland Winter Light Festival by Eichinger Sculpture Studio and Koble Creative to engage viewers and spotlight the creative power of collaboration. Details on the actual location to come soon. The Portland Winter Light Festival will be February 7-9.

We are participating in this year’s Portland Winter Light Festival. Our entry, “Crystalis,” is a concept we’ve been working on for a while. The Festival will be its first public viewing. We’ll be updating our progress as we build the final version. We have a few partners who are helping to make this happen, including Koble Creative.

The 4th annual Portland Winter Light Festival runs February 7-9, 2019. It is a city-wide event showcasing illuminated art installations, vibrant performances, and stunning kinetic fire sculptures throughout the city. Last year more than 100 artists and organizations were involved. Watch for updates over the next few weeks.
